Technology Integration

Although I believe it is important that we teach students from textbooks and teach them reading skills, technology can provide entertaining lessons and integrate new learning. Through EIPT 3043 and my observations in schools, I have found that technology can be educational and fun for students and teachers. In EIPT 3043, We were able to create lessons using Kidsperation, Smart Boards, Podcasts, and iMovie, which I would love to use in my future classes. These assignments could be used as lessons, additional practice, or great activities for centers. If given the resources I would encourage any teacher to incorporate technology into their lesson. When I was observing in the Oklahoma City public schools, I found that every room was equipped with a Smart Board and teachers used it every day for lessons. Most teachers would use it for power points, while others used it to show a YouTube. After seeing these uses of technology in the classroom, I think that it would be useful to have any form of technology because it sparks the students interests. One activity we learned in class, which I would use in my own classroom, is to allow the students to use their cell phone to submit answers just like a clicker. I think it would be great to occasionally allow the students to use their cell phones in class because it is a privilege and it is new and fun. Especially for this generation of children in school, integrating technology will spark their attention and be beneficial to their education.
